A Muslim lady on her way to visit a gravesite heard the whimpers of a baby in the grass nearby.  Upon investigation she found a baby boy barely alive.  He was inadequately clothed, skinny and alarmingly cold.  She called her husband who joined her and together they called the police.  The tiny boy was immediately whisked to the hospital where they worked on getting his body temperature stabilized and gave him intensive food supplements.

After two weeks of treatment, the hospital pronounced him stable and he was placed in the care of our Joyful Place orphanage.  The lady who found him named him Ramadan because it was during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan that he was found.

Each baby in our orphanage is assigned a sponsor from our friends here in the U.S. who immediately began praying for their health and a permanent adoptive family for them.

Ramadan thrived under the attention of faithful nannies and the necessary nutrients provided by “powdered gold” — what the nannies call formula.

When Ramadan had been in our orphanage for a year, a businesswoman from Shashemene began the process to adopt a child.  She had never married, but under the counsel of her pastor who had attended one of our adoption seminars, was encouraged to open her heart and home to an orphaned child as she longed to be a mother.  When she visited the orphanage, she was drawn to Ramadan, and 1 year and 5 months after being found by the cemetery, Ramadan was given the gift of family and a new name, Milkesa, which means “surprised by good news”.  He is flourishing in his new home with his delighted mama, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.

Wouldn’t you like to be a vital part of changing the life story of an abandoned child?  We always need monthly sponsors who will pray for and help us care for these precious little ones.  Just $50/month gives you that wonderful privilege!
