A very exciting but challenging work of God is taking place in parts of Ethiopia that don’t show up on the rest of the world’s radar.
“M” is a NewLife Ethiopia indigenous missionary who has established a house church in a M*slim village in rural Ethiopia. Another NLE missionary has come alongside “M” to help disciple new believers and to encourage and teach this small but growing Christian community. There are now 26 believers in this village and 12 new converts were baptized at the end of February!
This entire area is very dark spiritually – the M*slims living there are radicalized and taught to hate Christians. Just in the last several months, the hostility toward “M” and his family has increased alarmingly. People attack him when he is out in the village, especially at night. His family, too, have been physically attacked. Stones were constantly being thrown at them and at their house. It became too dangerous for their young family to stay so they moved to a nearby village.
“M” now teaches the new converts one-on-one in various locations. It takes him 30 minutes to walk back to the village to meet with believers and he always uses that time to strike up conversations with others, sharing the Gospel when he can. Imagine that kind of tenacity! Despite the hatred directed at him for his faith in Jesus, he looks for every opportunity to engage people in hopes they will respond to Christ’s invitation to the new life He offers.
“M” asks that you pray for his stamina, both physically and spiritually. He knows that he needs the prayers of others and he isn’t ashamed to ask. Will you join us in praying for “M” and for the other 28 missionaries serving Christ at great cost? When we pray for them, we join with them in ministry!
Strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf.
