We received more good news from our Joyful Place orphanage… This little boy, found when he was only about 15 days old laying on the ground near someone’s house. Eyu appeared to be healthy and was wrapped in fresh blankets with a bag of clothes next to him. His birthmother obviously hoped someone would care for her precious son. (It is a crime to abandon a child in Ethiopia and there is no system in place for a parent who can’t provide for their children to place them for adoption or transfer guardianship.)
The homeowner’s heart was broken so she took the baby into her home and fed him what she had – cow’s milk. The next day she informed the police who, with the Ministry of Women’s and Children’s Affairs, decided to place him in our orphanage.
We began to pray for his health and growth as well as for a family to adopt him. We found sponsors to help provide for his physical needs and who joined us in prayer. Our nannies doted on him, giving him the love and attention he needed along with good formula.
Wayenshet is a widowed mother of three girls who, at a deep level, felt God’s call on her life to adopt an orphaned child. She is a business woman of humble means but has enough to provide little Eyu with everything he needs most – a family! This dear woman and her daughters are overjoyed to welcome Eyu into their lives.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness!
